Counterterrorism Case Study

By Shara Atkinson

September 12, 2016

Problem

Local insurgents easily blend in with legitimate contractors and consistently try to access our military bases in the Middle East. Once passed security checkpoints, it is difficult to positively identify friends or foes.

Solution

A networked-based biometric real-time identity operations (NRTIO) system using fingerprinting and facial recognition to enhance gate security and visitor authentication.

Impact

  • Envistacom designed a fully integrated biometrics field verification system, deployed for use well in advance of the expectations and stated needs of the customer.
  • Positive biometric identification of base visitors was achieved much faster than required by the U.S. Department of Defense.
