From top to bottom, the metro Atlanta economy has been growing solidly and much of the action is at the poles: high skills and low. The region has added 95,400 jobs in the past year, and the unemployment rate has dropped to 4.9 percent – the level of joblessness of the last month in 2007 before the recession. Demand is good for lower-wage workers: hotel clerks, fast food counter help, warehouse shelf-stockers, construction laborers and the like.

ATLANTA, February 23, 2017 – Envistacom today announced that it was part of the technology and IT systems engineering team that deployed the communications networks and supporting infrastructure for the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) state-of-the-art complex at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. DISA Global Operations Command opened the 164,000-square-foot facility, including the largest cyber operations center with the Department of Defense (DoD), in August 2016 to provide mission support and emergency-response coordination for warfighters around the globe.

An Atlanta defense contractor that has grown rapidly with the rise of cyber attacks and terrorism is opening a new engineering center in Duluth. Envistacom said the new center will open early next year with about 20 engineering and other technical workers, but is expected to grow to as many as 70 employees by next fall.
