Hurricane Sandy earned its place in history as the second-costliest hurricane in United States history, causing more than $60 billion in damages across the Northeast—second only to Hurricane Katrina. “Superstorm Sandy” affected a total of 24 US states, killing 160 people, destroying homes, leaving millions without power and disrupting telecommunications services. A full week into the storm, there were areas still suffering through a total blackout, with communities reverting to printed paper and bullhorns to share what little information they possessed.
From top to bottom, the metro Atlanta economy has been growing solidly and much of the action is at the poles: high skills and low. The region has added 95,400 jobs in the past year, and the unemployment rate has dropped to 4.9 percent – the level of joblessness of the last month in 2007 before the recession. Demand is good for lower-wage workers: hotel clerks, fast food counter help, warehouse shelf-stockers, construction laborers and the like.
Envistacom Deployed Mission-Critical IT Networks for DISA Global’s $100-Million Operations Command Facility in Illinois
ATLANTA, February 23, 2017 – Envistacom today announced that it was part of the technology and IT systems engineering team that deployed the communications networks and supporting infrastructure for the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) state-of-the-art complex at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. DISA Global Operations Command opened the 164,000-square-foot facility, including the largest cyber operations center with the Department of Defense (DoD), in August 2016 to provide mission support and emergency-response coordination for warfighters around the globe.
Envistacom sponsors kalonji family foundation and soccer academy for underprivileged children in georgia
ATLANTA, Dec. 14, 2016 – Envistacom, a Hispanic woman-owned counterterrorism, cyber and communications company, selected the Kalonji Family Foundation and Kalonji Soccer Academy (KSA) as the recipient of its charitable support, including sponsorship of more than 200 players’ new jerseys and an additional $10,000 donation to a player who suffered a severe head injury during a game in September.
Envistacom is opening an engineering and innovation center in Duluth, Georgia, to expand research and development for communications and counterterrorism technologies to support national security requirements.
